Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy in Ann Arbor
Therapy that isn’t trying to make you act less like yourself.
A lot of neurodivergent people have already been through therapy that was really about compliance: sit still, make eye contact, stop doing the thing that helps you cope. Some came out of it better at hiding. Very few came out of it feeling better.
At Forest Ferns, the goal isn’t to make you look more typical. It’s to help your life actually work — with the brain you have.
It can look like a lot of different things
You’ve been masking for so long you’re not sure what’s underneath
Performing “normal” all day, then collapsing the minute you’re alone.
Burnout that rest doesn’t fix
Losing skills you used to have, going nonverbal, needing more recovery time than anyone around you seems to.
Too much and not enough, at the same time
Hyperfocus and paralysis. Brilliant at the hard things and stuck on the easy ones.
Everything is loud
Sensory overload, social exhaustion, and rejection that lands harder than it seems like it should.
A diagnosis that explained everything — at 35, or 50
Late diagnosis can bring relief, grief, anger, and a lot of rewriting your own history all at once.

How we work
Affirming, not corrective. Stimming, special interests, and needing things a certain way aren’t problems to fix.
Practical. Real strategies for executive function, routines, sensory needs, and communication — built around you, not a worksheet.
Low-friction access. Text or form to reach out, no phone calls, written communication welcome.
You don’t need a formal diagnosis to begin. Self-identified, suspected, or recently diagnosed — all welcome.
