Most people assume trauma therapy means going back through what happened, in detail, out loud. For some that's helpful. For a lot of people it's the reason they never start.

MEMI works differently.

What MEMI is

Multichannel Eye Movement Integration.

A structured, eye-movement-based approach that works with how a traumatic experience is held in the nervous system. You don't have to narrate the event. You don't have to relive it. The work happens in the present, with your body's response, not with the story.

Content-free.

You can say as little as "there's a thing I don't want to talk about" and the work can still begin. What you share stays entirely in your control.

Brief and focused.

MEMI sessions are typically structured around a specific trauma response rather than open-ended talk therapy. Most people complete the work in one to three sessions.

What it can help with

• A specific event that still produces a physical reaction: a startle, a freeze, a flood

• Trauma responses that have outlasted years of talking about them

• Medical trauma, accidents, assault, loss, and single-incident events

• Longstanding patterns where the original story is unclear or unknown

How it fits with the rest of therapy

MEMI can stand alone or sit inside ongoing therapy. Some clients come for a short course of MEMI only. Others use it to clear a specific block inside longer-term work with the same clinician or a different one.
