Clinical Supervision in Michigan

Supervision from someone who still sees clients.

You need supervised hours. You'd also like the hours to be useful. Supervision at Forest Ferns is run by a practising clinician in an active group practice, so the cases, the insurance realities, and the ethical grey areas you bring are the ones we deal with every week.

Who it's for

  • TLLPs and LLPs working toward full psychologist licensure under an LP supervisor

  • Fully licensed clinicians who want consultation rather than required supervision (see our Consultation page)

What supervision covers

Clinical

Case conceptualisation, treatment planning, working with trauma, dissociation, neurodivergence, and identity-related presentations. Getting unstuck.

Ethical and legal

Consent, documentation, mandated reporting, dual relationships, telehealth across county lines, and the questions you don't want to ask your employer.

Professional

Insurance credentialing, what limited licensure does and doesn't let you bill, building a caseload, and planning for independent practice.

Access and equity

Working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing clients, using interpreters well, captioned telehealth, and identity-affirming care as a clinical skill rather than a slogan.

Format

  • Individual supervision by video, anywhere in Michigan

  • Weekly or biweekly, matched to your hours requirement

  • Individual supervision only; we don't run supervision groups

  • Documentation that meets Michigan LARA requirements for supervised hours

Fees

Supervision is billed by the hour and we'll confirm the rate when you reach out. It's a professional service, not employment; it doesn't require you to work at Forest Ferns.

Getting started

Text or use the form. Tell us your license type, where you are in your hours, and what you're hoping supervision will do for you.

Who provides it

Supervision is provided by Dr. Mel Whalen, PhD, LP, Licensed Psychologist (MI, TX, NY), founder and director of Forest Ferns.
