Couples & Family Therapy in Ann Arbor
Nobody's the problem. The pattern is.
Couples and families rarely arrive because one person is broken. They arrive because the same argument keeps happening, or nothing gets said at all, or something changed and the old way of being together stopped working. The work is with the pattern, not with a culprit.
Couples
Communication that's turned into a loop
The fight you've had a hundred times. Getting off the loop, and learning what each of you is actually asking for underneath it.
Big transitions
A new baby, a move, a job change, retirement, illness, grief. The relationship has to be renegotiated and nobody told you that.
Trust and repair
After a breach, or after years of slow drift. Whether you're rebuilding or deciding.
Mixed Deaf-hearing couples
Who does the access work, who interprets for the family, whose language the household runs in, and what that costs. A Deaf-led practice understands this from the inside.
Families
Parenting together, or apart
Co-parenting after separation, blended families, step-parents finding their footing.
Parents and teens
When the relationship has gone to silence or shouting. A neutral room helps.
A family under strain
A parent's illness, a child's diagnosis, a military deployment, a loss.
How we work
Everyone gets heard. Sessions are structured so no one gets talked over and no one is the identified patient.
Practical. You leave with something to try before the next session.
Online or in person. Telehealth across Michigan; in-person options in Washtenaw County.
A note on insurance
Couples and family sessions are private pay; insurance doesn't cover them. We'll tell you the rate before you book, and if you have out-of-network benefits we can provide a superbill.
Who provides this
Family and co-parenting work is provided by Jessa Brown, LLPC. Couples are matched at intake to the clinician who fits your situation.
